Size Lens Kit
The Chadwick Optical Size Lens Kit is your tool to help you correct image size differences between a patient's eyes caused by aniseikonia that isn't apparent in the refraction. The kit provides a range of afocal lenses with varying magnifications that allow you to subjectively assess and address the unequal image sizes.
What is the Size Lens Kit?

Unlike standard lenses that correct focus, the lenses in the Size Lens Kit offer pure magnification. By viewing through these afocal lenses over their current prescription, your patient can directly experience how different percentages of magnification affect the perceived size of images between their eyes.
This subjective feedback allows you to pinpoint the magnification needed in one eye to create a more balanced and comfortable binocular visual experience. By testing in real-world scenarios, you move beyond mere acuity and address true functional vision.
WHO IS THE SIZE LENS KIT FOR?
The Size Lens Kit is specifically for your patients who report visual discomfort despite having clear vision with their regular prescription. This discomfort often arises from aniseikonia caused by a past surgery or some other anatomical variation that won't show up in the refraction.
It helps you identify the necessary magnification to balance the image sizes, improving binocular comfort and functional vision.

TIPS ON USING THE SIZE LENS KIT
Evaluation Procedure:
- Initial Setup: Have your patient wear a current pair of prescription glasses.
- Testing: Each trial lens has a stamped magnification/minification percentage. For magnification, have the convex side away from the eye. For minification, have the convex side towards the eye. Lenses can be stacked to create magnification percentages larger than 7%.
- Ordering: When ordering, specify the amount of magnification, and which eye it applies to. This is usually put in the notes of the script.
HOW TO ORDER USING THE KIT
The magnification parameters you gather from the size lens kit can be added to any prescription. Whatever your patient finds most beneficial, we can work with you to get it done.
To place an order, include the magnification information when filling out our order form. Simply add the necessary magnification to the prescription for the eye with the smaller image, such as:
- OD +100 +5% (magnification)
- OS +100
Keep in mind, the higher the magnification, the thicker the lens will be; so, patient tolerance is a consideration. If you're concerned that your patient will dislike the lens thickness, we can work with you to find a more aesthetically pleasing way to achieve the desired magnification.
Once you've identified the magnification, you can order it for your patient in their current prescription. We have a digital version of the Chadwick Optical order form available. If you have any questions about your order, please call or email Chadwick customer service.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
We suggest two cleaning options for the lenses:
OPTION 1:
Submerge in warm soapy water and gently clean with your fingers or a soft sponge. Pat dry with a towel and use a clean microfiber cloth to remove any spots.
OPTION 2:
Lightly spray an alcohol-free, ammonia-free lens cleaner onto a clean microfiber cloth and gently wipe the entire lens. Once you have wiped them down, either let them air dry or pat them dry. Finish by using another clean microfiber cloth to polish.
